Nipro Medical Corp., of Miami, FL, announced a voluntary nationwide recall of all GlucoPro Insulin Syringes, in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The recalled syringes may have needles that detach.
Although no injuries have been reported, to date, if the needle becomes detached from the syringe during use, it can become stuck in the insulin vial, push back into the syringe, or remain in the skin after injection.
The recalled syringes should not be used. They should be returned them to the point of sale for a refund.
The FDA Web site has a list of product codes and lot numbers to help identify the recalled syringes.
* The GlucoPro syringe for use with the Amigo Insulin pump, is not included in the recall.
